Annual Report 22/23

Our Annual Report is presented each year at our Annual General Meeting (AGM). This year the AGM was held at our new centre in Cowick Street on Tuesday 18th June.

The Annual Report explains the governance, objectives and aims of the charity and it highlights some of the work that we have been involved with during the year. As the report is in line with our financial year, this report includes the period from November 1st 2022 – October 31st 2023.

During this time, we gave out 12,175 food parcels. This number included 4,084 for local children.

Another significant number from the report shows that 1,156 households accessed support from Exeter Foodbank for the very first time. This means that in every single day of that ‘year’, three households had to contact us for the very first time to ask for help.

This is not an easy report to write.

It is difficult to capture the levels of financial difficulty that many households are facing. We share a few quotes from clients, but it does not capture the experience of our volunteers who see people in difficulty at every single session that we run during the course of a year. It is bittersweet, because we want to recognise and celebrate the amazing work that our volunteers and supporters put into the charity – but we also recognise that nobody should need to go to a foodbank to ask for food.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

And our deepest, deepest thanks to our volunteers and the wonderful people who support our work in so many ways.

With our best wishes
