ABOUT

“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why the Exeter Foodbank provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis.

The Exeter Foodbank

Exeter Foodbank was started in 2008 to help local people, many of whom had been affected by the financial crisis and subsequent downturn in the economy.

The foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area. Since opening we have grown to provide three client sessions a week at the Foodbank Centre and have over a hundred volunteers involved in every aspect of running the Foodbank.

Volunteers collect donations from Collection Points across the local area which are then sorted, weighed and stored. We maintain a warehouse where donations are stored before being delivered to the Centre for distribution.

Our Vouchers Co-ordinator works with over a hundred Local Agencies to ensure that your donations get to the right people on time and when needed. We have an amazing Foodbank Manager who pulls all the pieces together and along with a dedicated Management Team ensures the smooth and ongoing running of our Foodbank.

Please browse through some of the pages on this site to find out more about what the Foodbank does, what we do and how you can donate food,  help us financially or if you would like to get more involved.
